Anyone that knows me very well knows I’m obsessed with decorating for the holidays. (And I don’t use the word ‘obsessed’ lightly.) During the Christmas season, I put up anywhere between 6-11 trees…6 at my house and then between 1-5 at family/friends’ places because, well, I’m obsessed. And through the years I’ve developed some great techniques for creating trees that that make a statement and look professionally done (even though I’ve still never been paid for my craft 😉 ). This year I created 2 new trees out of the supplies from my ‘Winter Woodland’ tree, along with some new items for each.
Camo Christmas Tree
This tree showcases how to use picks and stems to really create a WOW tree that doesn’t actually use that many ornaments. It also features 4 ribbons ribbons to give it a luxe (but rustic) look. And to top it off (literally), it incorporates light in the tree topper.
Here are some of the supplies used:
- Twinkle lights (used on almost all of my trees to give the tree a beautiful twinkle from within)
- Greenery stem
- Berry stem
- Flocked berry stem
- White poinsettia
- Brown poinsettia
- Tweed poinsettia

Buffalo Check Christmas Tree
This tree incorporates one of my more unique tips, which is how to take a regular green tree and make it look flocked. And its actually quite easy…just take a flocked unlit garland, cut it up into 18-36 inch pieces and place around the tree on the branch “shelfs”.
Here are some of the supplies used:
- Twinkle lights (used on almost all of my trees to give the tree a beautiful twinkle from within)
- Flocked garland (similar)
- Buffalo check ribbon
- Jute ribbon with white trim
- Buffalo check present stems
- Buffalo check ball stems
- Buffalo check ornaments & Buffalo check ornaments
- Smaller jingle bells
- Buffalo check blanket
I go into more detail on how to create the flocked look, along with other tips in my video:
